Saturday 1-2-16 8:17am
Amherst, NY (15 miles from Niagara Falls)
I drove 450 miles yesterday. I left at 2:22pm (which is interesting because I see "222" everywhere) and I arrived at the hotel at about 10pm. I stopped three times - once for food (Chicopee, MA) and twice for gas. The two towns I stopped in for were called Florida, NY and Chili, NY. My car was fine and Herold was content in his nest of a bed.
It was a sad day with lots of tears. Saying goodbye to Kacey was hard. I text with him for a little while during the drive and then made the decision to respect his space and also my space and not contact him. I can't help but think of all the things you think of when you go through a break up - did I do the right thing? Did I really try my hardest? Am I a failure? Will I ever see him again? What are people going to say about me? All this and so much more went through my mind. I finally picked up the phone and was kindly reminded, once again, everything is divine. God has a plan. All I have to do is trust that plan, put one foot in front of the other and keep trudging.
So many people have checked in with me, called me, text me, sent me love - I am so grateful. I am so lucky to have so many people in my life that care about me. Yes, I am crying while I write this out. You better be too! Just kidding. ;)
Anyway, I was putting myself on a deadline and was getting stressed out. It FINALLY occurred to me that there is no schedule. I did yoga in the kitchen last night, wrote in my journal, slept and got up when I was ready, which was at 7am. Fed Herold and took him for a walk. The moment I came back into the hotel room, I realized, "I am on a vacation road trip. Take your time. Relax. Meditate." So I meditated and Herold sat in my lap the whole time. Then he decided we were done and needed to play.
Today's plan is to do some yoga, organize and condense the things I need to bring into the next hotel (because last night was a shit show trying to get everything up here), get ready, find some breakfast, go see Niagara Falls and explore a little, then head to Akron, OH.
Here are some pictures so far. It was pretty much pitch black while I was driving, so no scenic photos yet. However, at one point, I was driving through some mountains and it was just before the sun went down and it looked amazing. It was dark for awhile and then the sunset peeked through - black all around and then a window of orange, yellow and gray from the clouds. There were some rain clouds and low clouds too. I tried to take a picture, but that is like taking a picture of the moon when it seems huge and then it looks like a mustard seed in the photo.
Here's to day two of 2016! Love you all!
